Where the Journey Began
Before moving to Ireland, Tahsin lived in Bangladesh, where much of his early connection with nature came through time spent with his family.
He spent a great deal of time with his mother and his aunt, Priya, learning through everyday experiences about gardening, growing plants, caring for nature, and paying attention to how plants develop.
These were not simply lessons from books. They came from watching, helping, experimenting, and spending time around plants.
He also spent time with his uncle, from whom he learned more technical and practical skills. Those experiences helped develop a broader interest in understanding not only nature itself, but also the tools, techniques, and practical details involved in working with different environments.
Exploring Places and Learning From Nature
Family life also meant spending time outdoors.
They would often travel from one place to another together—sometimes walking, cycling, or travelling by vehicle.
Those everyday journeys created opportunities to see different landscapes, plants, water environments, gardens, and natural surroundings.
Over time, these experiences built a simple but lasting curiosity:
How does nature grow, and how can we recreate part of that environment ourselves?
A Different Life in Killarney
In 2023, Tahsin moved to Killarney, Ireland, with his family.
Life there was different.
Instead of being able to spend as much time moving between outdoor environments, much of his everyday life became centered around a flat in Killarney.
That change in environment led to a new question:
How can I continue working with plants and nature when my growing space is indoors?
The answer gradually became indoor gardening and terrariums.
The Beginning of His Terrarium Journey
With limited indoor space, terrariums offered a way to bring a small piece of nature into the home.
Tahsin began working more seriously with terrariums, moss, aquatic plants, and indoor gardening.
What started as a practical way to continue growing plants indoors became an ongoing process of observation and experimentation.
He began paying closer attention to:
- How plants respond to different levels of light
- How moisture behaves inside containers
- How humidity affects plants and moss
- How different substrates influence growth
- How plants interact within small environments
- How aquatic and semi-aquatic plants behave
- How terrariums change over time
- How to maintain miniature ecosystems indoors
Inspired by Killarney’s Natural Environment
Killarney also provided a different kind of learning environment.
The landscapes around Killarney National Park offered inspiration for understanding woodland habitats, moss, moisture, plants, water, and natural ecosystems.
Rather than simply trying to reproduce a landscape, Tahsin became interested in understanding the relationships within these environments and how some of those principles could be applied to indoor gardening and terrarium design.
Where natural materials are involved, they should only be obtained where collection is lawful and permitted; protected natural areas should be observed and respected.
From Family Lessons to Terrarium Master
Looking back, the journey connects several stages of learning.
Bangladesh provided the early foundation—time with family, gardening, plants, nature, and everyday exploration.
His mother and aunt Priya helped introduce him to the practical side of growing and caring for plants.
His uncle contributed technical and hands-on knowledge.
Travelling through different places created opportunities to observe nature beyond the garden.
Moving to Killarney in 2023 changed the environment and encouraged a stronger focus on indoor gardening.
Terrariums, moss, and aquatic plants then became a way to continue exploring nature within a limited indoor space.
Terrarium Master grew from that continuing journey.
Today, the website brings together hands-on experience, observation, research, and practical terrarium knowledge to help other people understand and create their own miniature plant environments.
The Idea Behind Terrarium Master
The philosophy is simple:
You do not need a large garden to stay connected with nature. Sometimes, a small container can become a window into a much larger ecosystem.
Terrarium Master exists to explore that idea—one plant, one terrarium, and one growing environment at a time.
